I don't know if it is a coincidence or not that out of the four to review this book here so far, two women gave it five stars and two guys gave it one star. Perhaps it is geared more towards mothers in business. The reason I read it is that I read almost all the books on the "Wall Street Journal" and "New York Times" business bestseller lists. I can usually take something out of most of them, even business books that are written for women or ones that are geared towards balancing work life with a personal life. However, this book was so incredibly boring that I found myself regularly flipping ahead. I'm not saying everyone would dislike it. It's just that having been on the WSJ business best seller list, I thought there would be a lot more about business. It seemed to be more geared towards her family life. That's not a bad thing if that is what you want; that's just not what I expected or wanted.
I admired the leader of our company and what all she has accomplished! Also makes me proud of America and the products made here in our country!
Weaving Dreams is a must-read for everyone! Tami Longaberger shares her lessons from life with honesty and openness. The good and the bad in her past have shaped her and now she reflects on it with warmth, humor and confidence. Reading her book is like sitting in a cozy chair in her living room with a hot drink talking about work, life and love. You will look at your work life, personal life, family life and spiritual life with new enthusiasm..
Just finished reading Tami's book. It was very well-written and I finished it in two days! She writes with a strong voice yet very personal style.
I love her heartfelt openness. She is very honest about her feelings and how hard it has been to reduce the Longaberger weavers and workers.
I also love that she writes letters each year to her children and is saving them for them to read later when she is gone. She tells them what a joy they have been to her. It's a lovely idea and I think I will do the same thing.
A must read for Longaberger lovers and others in general.
Just finished Weaving Dreams; I laughed, I cried, I dreamed, and was inspired. What an insightful, compelling woman Tami Longaberger is! I am impressed and amazed that as a working mother with such heavy responsibilities as CEO and President of the Longaberger Company she has time for such introspection and sharing. Her writings, with the help of descriptive writer Jane Graham, lay open Tami's inner thoughts, feelings, fears and memories of her life and living that life in the limelight and at times the shadow of her father, Dave Longaberger the founder of the Longaberger Company.
I sat with this book thinking I would only read a few chapters, and didn't come up for air until I was nearly completed (and only because I had to, not because I wanted to!). Written in a conversational, easy reading style, I was immediately engaged, feeling that I was right there with Tami in her stories.
This is not a business book. It's a motivational book for women and even for men also. Whether you're new to Longaberger or have been a customer for years, this is an inside look to leading with a heart. This will inspire you to be a better person, to think more about your choices and decisions, and what you CAN DO for others. It's worth buying, and reading, and then sharing with a friend....
I consider this a must read for all women whether they are self-employed or if they work for someone else. Tami Longaberger and The Longaberger Company are great inspirations. HIGHLY recommend this book.
A family business built from a dream into a successful direct sales company. The Longaberger family with their work ethic, character, loyalty, and comittment to its employees, consultants and the community is so refreshing. It's a good read for anyone venturing into the business field.
